Tree Planting Programs
Trees Ontario works with 65+ local tree planting agencies in Ontario, including regional Conservation Authorities and local Ontario Stewardship councils to implement its tree planting programs. Planting agencies then work directly with landowners to determine site eligibility, allocate grant funding and coordinate tree planting.
There are three planting programs currently available:
1. Trees Ontario Forest Recovery Program
The Trees Ontario Forest Recovery Program provides financial support to partners wishing to organize tree planting projects that make a significant contribution to ecological sustainability at the local level. Recipients include Trees Ontario planting agencies that have identified a specific geographic area having an ecological requirement that may in part be addressed through tree planting. The subsidy will help to reduce the tree planting costs. In turn, the planting agency provides all services required to plant the trees, including site inspection, preparation of site plan, ordering stock, site preparation, overseeing the tree planting, tending and follow-up survival assessments.
*Note: Trees Ontario Forest Recovery Program availability is dependent on donor contributions.
2. 50 Million Tree Program
The 50 Million Tree Program is designed to significantly reduce landowner's costs of large-scale tree planting and thereby increase the number of trees planted.

Trees Ontario supports select special projects, which are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Planting agency partners are asked to submit a project proposal, which will then be reviewed by a technical advisory committee.
