Tenderness and Hard Work Make Love and Trees Grow

Ontario couple recognize wedding day with donation to Trees Ontario

July 8, 2010 - Spring 2010 marked the beginning of many things for Liz & Joel. Most importantly, it was the beginning of their life together, with dreams of love, trust and understanding. To celebrate this blissful occasion, the couple decided to support Trees Ontario with a donation in lieu of wedding favours for their guests.

“When we first started planning our wedding we didn’t have a theme,” said Liz.” But when everything began to unfold we discovered that we had inadvertently adopted a tree theme – so we stuck with it.”

A donation was made to Trees Ontario in honour of each guest present at their celebration of marriage. This contribution saw 100 native tree seedlings planted during the spring  planting season. In addition to this,  three ceremonial ‘wedding’ trees were planted by the couple and their families to represent the newly made bond between them.

“A tree, like a relationship, needs to be cared for and tended to in order for it to grow,” said Liz. “With enough tenderness and hard work, our love will last as long as our tree does.”

Trees Ontario extends its congratulations to the newly wed couple and thanks them for supporting regreening efforts in Ontario.
